Route

Route:

Starting at the Market Square in Scariff Town Centre and heading out the Connaught road, the route swings right after passing Derg Credit Union. The first stage is a slightly undulating 2.5 KM stretch out the MountShannon Road. Around the mile mark, locally known as Ducey’s, make sure to look up for a great view of Holy Island. At 2.5 KM, turn left at Moynoe for a relatively flat 2 KM and the first (of two) water stations. The 5KM marker in Sheaun signals the start of the 250 meter climb over the next kilometer which is sure to separate the field. Approximately ¾ of the way up the climb, look out to the right for a spectacular vista of Lough Derg, surely an inspiration for the last 200 meters and to the second water station at 6KM. The reward for reaching the 6KM mark, apart from the water, is the next 3 KM are all downhill at a slope gentle enough to allow you firmly control your pace. For those looking to pick up some time, this provides a great opportunity to lengthen the stride over almost 1/3 of the 10K course. The last kilometer is a flat-run to the finish line at the GAA grounds where water & refreshments will be available.
